GREAT BAY--NAGICO Insurances and the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League have launched a developmental scholarship that will give a promising young Caribbean cricketer direct exposure to a high-performance professional cricket environment during the 2026 tournament.
The initiative, established under the league’s Super We platform, will benefit 21-year-old St. Maarten batting all-rounder Michael Palmer. He will be attached to the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the tournament’s home franchise and reigning champions.
The scholarship was initiated by the Global Super League and is fully supported by NAGICO Insurances. It is intended to create meaningful opportunities for emerging Caribbean players to improve their skills, observe professional standards and gain experience alongside leading regional and international cricketers.
Palmer’s attachment will allow him to experience the daily operations of a professional cricket team, including training, preparation, discipline and the demands placed on players competing at a high level.
NAGICO Group Chief Executive Officer Kyria Ali said the company views investment in young people as one of the most important contributions it can make to the region.

She said NAGICO was proud to support the first-of-its-kind initiative and hoped the partnership would expand in the years ahead.

Chairman of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, Sir Clive Lloyd, welcomed the scholarship and described it as an investment in the future of Caribbean cricket.
“One of the key objectives of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League is to create opportunities that extend beyond the matches themselves. We are delighted that NAGICO Insurances has partnered with us to provide this developmental scholarship, which will give one talented young cricketer invaluable exposure to a professional environment. Initiatives like this help ensure that the next generation of Caribbean players is equipped to carry our rich cricketing legacy forward,” Lloyd said.
The scholarship adds a youth-development and legacy component to the 2026 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, supporting the tournament’s wider role in developing Caribbean talent while presenting international-level competition.
The 2026 tournament will be held in Guyana from July 23 to August 1.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors will defend their title against Lahore Qalandars of Pakistan, Desert Vipers of the United Arab Emirates, Perth Scorchers XI of Australia and the San Francisco Unicorns of the United States.
