GREAT BAY, St. Maarten - Fitness Attitude Gym Club B.V., in collaboration with Rooted by Linda, is inviting the St. Maarten community to get moving this October through MOVE FOR HER, a 24-day step challenge being held in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The challenge will run from October 1 to 24, 2026, encouraging participants to aim for 6,500 steps per day and an individual total of 150,000 steps over the 24 days. Collectively, organizers are challenging participants to reach a community target of 5 million steps.

MOVE FOR HER is intended to be more than a step-counting exercise. The initiative is designed to encourage people to become more physically active, develop consistency in their daily routines, prioritize their health and come together in support of people affected by breast cancer.

Participants will track their daily activity through the StepUp app and will also have access to a private Facebook community where they can receive motivation and encouragement throughout the challenge.

As part of the campaign, participants are also being encouraged to wear pink on Pink Wednesdays, October 7, 14 and 21, and to share their steps, photographs or short videos. The initiative will use those activities to help spread awareness about breast health and the importance of early detection.

The challenge will conclude on Saturday, October 24, with a MOVE FOR HER Closing Community Pink Walk. Additional details about the closing event will be announced closer to the date.

Registration for MOVE FOR HER is US$10, with 100 percent of registration proceeds being donated in support of the 2026 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign coordinated by the Positive Foundation and Elektralyets Foundation.

Local businesses and community partners have also joined the initiative, contributing prizes that will be presented to participants during the October 24 closing event. The second page of the campaign material highlights seven supporting sponsors and partners as part of the MOVE FOR HER initiative.

“Our goal is to bring people together through something as simple as walking. Whether you walk 6,500 steps all at once or throughout your day, every step represents a commitment to your health and an opportunity to show support for someone affected by breast cancer,” said Linda Gardener, General Director of Fitness Attitude Gym Club B.V.

The campaign carries the message: “For the fighters. For the survivors. In memory of those we have lost. For ourselves.” Organizers are encouraging residents across St. Maarten to show up, get moving and make each step count during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Participants can register or obtain additional information by contacting +1 721 522-0581 or emailingfitnessattitudesxm@gmail.com
