GREAT BAY--St. Maarten baseball player Julian King has officially committed to a college in Virginia after earning a baseball scholarship, securing an opportunity to continue both his education and athletic career at the collegiate level in the United States.

The scholarship marks an important milestone for King, whose years of dedication, discipline and consistent work in the sport have helped position him for the next stage of his development as both a student and an athlete.

Bryant & Stratton College’s Virginia Bobcats baseball program gives student-athletes the opportunity to compete on a competitive NJCAA schedule while pursuing a college education. The College describes its athletics program as one designed to support success both on the field and in the classroom, with students working toward degrees that can prepare them for careers beyond sports. For King, the opportunity therefore represents more than advancement in baseball. It provides a structured pathway to continue developing as an athlete while earning an education, reinforcing the importance of academic achievement alongside athletic performance.

King gave special recognition to Coach Tom Burnett, Coach Trent Mongero and Coach Johnny Johnson for the confidence they placed in him and the opportunities they provided along the way.

Their support allowed King to compete in the Old North State Baseball Collegiate Summer League in North Carolina, where he gained valuable experience against collegiate-level competition and continued to strengthen his game.

The exposure and development gained through that experience helped prepare him for the opportunity now awaiting him in Virginia, where he will have the chance to compete at the college level while pursuing his academic goals.

As King prepares for this next chapter, he will also carry St. Maarten with him onto the collegiate baseball stage.

His achievement reflects the opportunities that can emerge through perseverance, commitment and continued development, and provides a positive example for young athletes in St. Maarten who are working toward opportunities in both sports and education.
