PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO--As artificial intelligence transforms industries, reshapes careers and changes how people work and make decisions, a Caribbean voice is emerging with a different perspective on one of the world's most important conversations. Analise Kandasammy, an emerging thought leader on the human side of artificial intelligence, has officially launched her debut book,Human, Still: Strengthening Your Mind for an AI-Shaped Future, challenging professionals, business leaders and organizations to look beyond what AI can do and consider what it may be doing to us.

At a time when conversations about AI are dominated by automation, productivity and the possibility of machines replacing human jobs, Kandasammy believes an equally important issue deserves attention:how do we protect our judgment, attention and ability to think independently as technology becomes increasingly capable?

Her message is clear: “You don't need to out-process the machines. You need to out-human them.”

The book, which has already generated interest ahead of its official launch, grew out of Kandasammy's own experience of questioning her professional relevance as AI capabilities rapidly expanded. What began with the deeply personal question,“Will I still be needed?”, evolved into four years of research and a broader exploration of what makes humans valuable in an AI-shaped world.

Rather than encouraging fear or resistance to technology,Human, Stillpresents a practical approach to navigating change. Through her Uncrackable Clarity framework, Kandasammy explores three essential capabilities, physiology, attention and judgment, helping readers strengthen their mental clarity, protect their focus and make more intentional decisions.

For Caribbean professionals and organizations, the conversation is particularly timely. As businesses accelerate digital transformation and increasingly incorporate AI into their operations, the need for critical thinking, sound judgment and responsible decision-making becomes even more significant.

Kandasammy believes the greatest risk may not be the technology itself, but the gradual surrender of human judgment when people begin relying on AI-generated information without questioning or evaluating it.

“Judgment, not speed, is the one thing AI can't own for you,” is one of the central principles behind her work.

As a Guyanese-born professional based in Trinidad and Tobago, Kandasammy is bringing a distinctly Caribbean perspective to a global discussion often led by voices from major technology centres. Positioning herself as a Human-Centred Futurist, her work focuses not on predicting what machines will do next, but on helping people understand how to remain capable, intentional and distinctly human as technology evolves.

Her philosophy, “Know Yourself, Navigate Everything,” reinforces the importance of self-awareness as a foundation for navigating uncertainty, change and technological advancement.

The official launch ofHuman, Still, held at The Naughty Grape Rooftop in Woodbrook, Trinidad, brought together professionals, entrepreneurs, business leaders and creatives for a fireside conversation exploring these ideas and their implications for the future, but for Kandasammy, the book represents only the beginning. Through speaking engagements, workshops and thought-leadership initiatives, she aims to bring the human side of AI into boardrooms, workplaces, educational institutions and wider public conversations across the Caribbean and beyond.

As the world continues to ask what artificial intelligence will make possible, Kandasammy is encouraging a different question: what must we protect to ensure that technological progress does not come at the expense of our humanity?
