ANGUILLA--Tuesday, August 4, was the official opening ceremony for ten newly recruited call handlers who have commenced a six-week training programme for the Joint Emergency Services Control Room (JESCR). The training is being delivered by Lynsey Willis and Michael Luke of Salterton, UK, equipping the recruits with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively manage emergency calls and dispatch emergency services.

The opening ceremony was attended by Governor Julia Crouch, senior Royal Anguilla Police Force officers, Anguilla Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) officials.

The six-week programme is designed to prepare the new call handlers to provide a professional, calm and efficient response to members of the public during emergencies. As the first point of contact for those seeking urgent assistance, call handlers play a critical role in ensuring that emergency re-sources are dispatched quickly and effectively.
