PHILIPSBURG--The Dutch St. Maarten Taxi Association reported a 95 per cent turnout among its members for a two-day training session aimed at improving service to visitors ahead of the 2026-2027 high season.
The training was held on September 28 and 29 in collaboration with the Aquila Center for Cruise Excellence, which was recommended to the association by Port St. Maarten management and government representatives.
The Canada-based organisation works with training instructors recommended by the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA).
Each participant received a certificate of completion, and drivers will also receive stickers for their taxis to indicate that they have completed the training.
The association said participants gave the training high overall ratings, citing the information provided and the presentation by speaker Melanie Colpitts.
The turnout, according to the association, demonstrated members’ commitment to improving their skills and providing better service to visitors.
