ST. EUSTATIUS--Former Commissioner and State Secretary Leonora Sneek-Gibbs was flown out to St. Maarten Medical Center via Medevac chopper for further medical treatment on Wednesday, May 11.

  Sneek-Gibbs is the spouse of Statia independent Island Councilman Koos Sneek. She is a very active member in the community of St. Eustatius for her entrepreneurial and charitable efforts.

  Her illness brought a sudden halt to activities on the island.

  Sneek-Gibbs is the Membership Chairperson at St. Eustatius Lions Club and Member of Gertrude Judson Bicentennial Library and St. Eustatius Promotion of International Culture and Education (SPICE) Foundation.

  Persons on the island extended hopes and prayers for a speedy recovery. Councilman Sneek accompanied his wife on the chopper.
