SABA--Island Governor of Saba Jonathan Johnson is encouraging all eligible voters to cast their vote in the Dutch Parliament’s Second Chamber election March 15-17.
“The Second Chamber is very important, even though it is far away. The Second Chamber takes decisions that affect us here in Saba,” Johnson said.
People are asked to bring their voting card and identification (ID) when they come to vote at the Fire Station in The Bottom, today, Monday, March 15, and Tuesday, March 16, and at the Fire Station in The Bottom and Eugenius Johnson Center in Windwardside on Wednesday, March 17. The polling stations will be open 7:30am to 9:00pm.
People who cannot make it to the polling station can give permission to another person to vote on their behalf.
Unlike in the Netherlands, there will be no additional safety measures in place at the polling stations in Saba due to the absence of COVID-19 on the island.
Saba has 907 eligible voters who all received their voting card in the course of this past week. There are 21 political parties on the voting ballot for district 20, the Caribbean Netherlands. “The voting ballot is quite large. So, take your time looking it over, make your choice and vote,” said Johnson.
