The new acquisitions
KRALENDIJK--The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force KPCN recently acquired new motorcycles, complementing the existing fleet, offering greater flexibility and enhancing visibility on the streets. The motorcycle team is making its first public appearance on Bonaire’s roads during Regatta Week.
The new motorbikes feature distinctive police livery, sirens and special message panels that allow officers to give instructions to other road users. This makes them clearly recognisable as police vehicles and enables their use for traffic monitoring and enforcement.
According to a release, the motorcycles give officers greater scope for flexible and effective action. Their agility allows riders to move easily between locations – even during busy periods or in areas that are difficult for patrol cars to access.
“This enables faster responses to reports, support for colleagues during incidents and monitoring across multiple locations. They can be deployed for preventive patrols, traffic checks, and event supervision.
“The motorcycles are a valuable addition, combining the speed and mobility of a patrol car with the accessibility of foot or bicycle patrols. This allows officers to move quickly while remaining visible and approachable to the community. First visible deployment during the regatta,” added the statement.
The motorcycle team complements the other police patrols deployed during the festivities to ensure public order and traffic safety. With this expansion, KPCN says it is taking a significant step forward in strengthening police operations in Bonaire. The new motorcycles provide greater capacity to respond quickly when the community needs the police.
