The new WIFOL board.
PHILIPSBURG--The newly elected board of the Workers Institute for Organized Labour Association (WIFOL) has been officially registered with the St Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry and former board members and former president Theophilus Emanuel Thompson no longer authorised to represent the association.
The registration became effective September 17, 2026, under Commercial Register number 22257. The newly registered board consists of Joanice David Richardson as president, Elton Achille Jones as board member and Lesley Asma Berkel as board member.
WIFOL said that, as of September 17, only these three board members are authorised to act on behalf of the association.
Former board members, including Thompson, no longer hold a position within WIFOL and are no longer authorised to represent, speak for, negotiate on behalf of, or enter into any agreement or commitment in the name of WIFOL or any of its affiliates.
The association is asking the public, employers, financial institutions and government bodies to direct all correspondence, negotiations and inquiries concerning WIFOL exclusively to the newly registered board.
The board said it thanks the membership for its confidence and looks forward to serving the workers of St Maarten with integrity, transparency and renewed commitment.
