Preliminary work was carried out Monday at the site of the new F.D. Roosevelt Airport building and air traffic control towers by Dutch construction company Van Boekel. One of the workers said the company was looking for underground cables at the site to ensure that the cables will not be damaged when construction starts. A backhoe and a truck were seen removing piles of dirt from the area of the planned building.
