PHILIPSBURG--The Government of St Maarten, led by Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina, has expressed its deepest condolences on the passing of Eileen Healy, describing her as a dedicated advocate, leader, and long-standing pillar of the community.

Healy played a central role in developing and strengthening the Mental Health Foundation (MHF), where she served with unwavering commitment. Her leadership helped establish the Foundation as an essential institution, ensuring that mental health care in Sint Maarten was accessible and treated with dignity. Through her work, she promoted understanding, awareness, and acceptance of mental health challenges, offering hope to many individuals and families.

Mercelina reflected on her contributions, stating, “Ms. Eileen Healy was a true humanitarian whose dedication to mental health transformed lives and strengthened our national health system. Her legacy will live on in the thousands of people who were supported, uplifted, and empowered through her service. As MHF makes strides forward, I have no doubt that her guidance and blessings will continue to help shape the Foundation into the dream she always envisioned.”

Healy was also a strong advocate for breast cancer awareness and community outreach. She underscored early detection, education and support systems, and her involvement in awareness campaigns brought needed attention to women’s health issues while uniting the community around care and resilience.

Mercelina noted, “Her passion for breast cancer awareness and community service reflected her unwavering belief that every life has value and that we each hold a responsibility to care for one another. Sint Maarten is better because she lived among us, served among us, and loved among us.”

The government of St Maarten extended sympathy to her family, friends, MHF colleagues, and all who were touched by her work. The statement said the country honours her legacy and remains committed to the causes she championed.
