DAWN BEACH--Fly Dutch Caribbean Airlines will be operating out of EDEIS Grand Case Airport as of July 1, disclosed Quality and Route Development Manager Sabrina Charville, at the SMART trade show on Wednesday.

“The airline is starting with a six-seater Cessna 206 and by September they hope to increase seating by 10 passengers with a Cessna 44 and an Islander aircraft in the near future,” Charville stated. “This is an opportunity for us to be open to the Dutch Caribbean, namely Saba and Statia, and most likely Curaçao. Since we lost Air Antilles, it has been very slow, so this is good news for us.

“We also met with Inter Caribbean Airlines and had good discussions about what we can do with Grand Case Airport. They have ATR planes so they can fly out of the airport. They are working on traffic rights for Guadeloupe and Martinique, and we want to be on that route too.

“We have also had great discussions with Anguilla Air Services. It’s such a pity that the two islands are so close and we don’t have a direct flight between Grand Case and Anguilla, but that might change soon.”
