The initiative, held on July 8, aimed to foster greater cultural and functional literacy in St. Maarten as a means of empowerment.

The CLIMB Foundation collaborated with the St. Martin Book Fair Committee, The House of Nehesi Publishers and local authors to encourage the community to host or attend book parties featuring works by St. Martin writers.

According to the foundation, the movement received strong community endorsement, with participation and promotion from local authors, Parliament, government entities, educational institutions, students, parents, community councils, businesses, residents and visitors to the island.

The foundation said the goal of the National Literacy Movement extends beyond hosting events and is focused on continuously bringing the community together to make reading an integral part of daily life in St. Martin.

The CLIMB Foundation expressed its gratitude to the community for what it described as the exceptional support and encouragement received during the initiative.
