The Dutch and French sides Department of Communication teams in Marigot, St. Martin.
MARIGOT--The Department of Communication of the Government of St. Maarten and the Communication Department of the Collectivité of St. Martin strengthened cross-border collaboration during a working visit held on February 26 in Marigot.
The visit, which included the French side’s protocol section, focused on gaining a deeper understanding of how the French side Department of Communication functions within the Collectivité, exchanging mutual operational information and ideas, and continuing to foster the working relationship between the two entities.
At the Marigot offices, head and director of the French side Department of Communication Nathalie Longato delivered a short presentation outlining the department’s work and responsibilities. Following the presentation, both departments engaged in informative exchanges on ideas, policies, and procedures aimed at enhancing their respective operations.
Staff members of St. Maarten’s Department of Communication were later given a tour of the operational section. Demonstrations were provided on the use of equipment, as well as on photo and video recordings, program production, graphic design processes, internet management, and social media products and operations. Further discussions were held on logistical setups and communication workflows.
Head of DCOMM Maurice Lake described the visit as an invaluable exercise in synergy and professional exchange. He said the meeting provided a unique platform to align operational protocols and compare logistical setups to ensure both departments are working toward a unified standard of excellence. Beyond the technical discussions on infrastructure and communication workflows, Lake noted that the engagement helped build the interpersonal rapport necessary for seamless cross-border collaboration. He added that the teams left with a deeper understanding of shared challenges and a strengthened commitment to streamlining information-sharing processes for the benefit of all communities.
Both departments exchanged tokens of appreciation at the conclusion of the visit. The head of DCOMM has also extended an invitation to the French side Communication Department for a return visit in the near future.
