Real Talk participants celebrated completing their workshops.

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten AIDS Foundation completed the facilitation of its Real Talk and Girl Power workshops for the year, with the St. Dominic High School.

  The foundation held these workshops from December 13 and 16, where students in the first and second forms participated in the two-day, three-hour long workshops. A total of 55 students participated and completed the respective workshops from four classes. St. Maarten AIDS Foundation noted an eagerness amongst the students and facilitators regarding the different topics covered.

The information was presented via various videos, poetry, pictures, demonstrations and open discussions on numerous topics, such as identifying healthy vs unhealthy relationships, peer pressure, online bullying, life goals and self-values, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) awareness.

  The foundation said safety measures and social distancing were enforced during these workshops.

  St. Maarten AIDS Foundation expressed continued thanks to all its wonderful helpers. Special thanks were given to Amanda Vital and Karin van der Plas, who facilitated the Girl Power workshops, as well as Aneuris Richardson and Heather Caputo, who took care of the Real Talk workshops.
