ST. JOHN’S ESTATE--Three men assaulted St. John’s Estate resident B.B.K. in an apparent attempted home invasion just after he stepped out of his house around 2:00am Tuesday. The robbers fled the scene and eluded police capture despite two of them later being spotted.
According to police, the robbers started their attempted misdeed by disconnecting the electricity running to the home. The strange, sudden loss of power prompted K. to go outside to see what had happened.
The three men attacked him when he stepped out of his door. The struggle caused K.’s wife to scream, which ultimately scared the robbers away, fleeing the scene on foot before authorities arrived.
Responding police officers got a description of the suspects and began to search the St. John’s area for the three robbers. Soon afterwards, one officer spotted two men matching the suspects’ profiles running towards Saunders. The suspects had firearms in their possession at the time, said police in a press release on Tuesday evening.
The two men jumped into a parked Hyundai i-10 and drove off towards Ebenezer. The officer lost sight of the vehicle in Saunders.
Police continued searching the area for the suspects and the getaway vehicle, later finding it abandoned in Ebenezer. The car has been confiscated pending further investigation.
The three robbers remained at large as of Tuesday evening.
