St. Maarten’s Carifta Games Silver medalist Shakeba Pink has started off the year on the international circuit on a high note after completing a 2000-meter race in Guadeloupe in a time of 6 minutes and 50 seconds.

This new development was recorded during the Guadeloupe Championship which was held over the weekend. After putting in a stunning performance in the same event last year, the organizers did not hesitate to invite her to compete there for the second straight year.

Pink who was quoted as saying on social media the race was challenging but still managed to finish the race very strong has been receiving showers of praises from the moment she made her most recent accomplishment public.

According to National Athletic Coach Abdule Wattley, who is also the founder and head of the Dynamics Track Club, it was due to the fact that Pink does not have much competition on the island that they capitalized on the opportunity to allow her to compete as often as she can at invitational meets. It is also a way of preparing her for the 2016 Carifta Games that will take place during the Easter weekend in Grenada.
