St. Maarten – On Tuesday the Executive Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with the chief financial officer of the Telem Group of Companies, Helma Etnel, and its CCTV project team members. The long awaited CCTV program for Philipsburg and greater St. Maarten was the topic of discussion.

Parties met with Chamber receiving a presentation on the system, and its capabilities. Further discussed were project implementation, cost, timeline and thereafter maintenance and monitoring costs. It is the intention of parties to collaborate closely with each other to ensure the realization of the due project. Envisioned is a prompt implementation followed by a maximized use of the system to redress crime, and optimize crime solving capabilities and results.

During the coming weeks, stakeholders’ input will be sought whilst parties will focus on financing to cover the implementation and subsequent monthly recurring costs. The Chamber said in a press release that it is committed to this project.
