St. Maarten – Diane Balit will open up her new designer watch shop on Front Street on Tuesday December 10. At this moment the shop is already open, but the official opening will be on December 10.

The shop sells watches that Diane has designed herself. All the watches have a theme mainly focused on St. Maarten. Diane is a Canadian from Quebec and she has been involved in watch design for quite some time. To be more precisely she started her company in 1985, but is involved in watch design since 1976. Her workshop is still located in Quebec, but at this moment she is on St. Maarten to manage the new store.

Balit’s watches are being sold in many shops mainly throughout Canada. She hopes that the new shop on St. Maarten will help her to make her watches even more famous around the world.

The designer watches are unique and valuable works of art which testify to both the creativity and the attention to detail of this creative Canadian artist with a worldwide reputation when it comes to designing watches.

Diane Balit excels in the art of creating art with a contemporary look using very old but decent and proven techniques. She paints miniatures on enameled copper using delicate feathers and very fine brushes which are then fired in high temperature ovens.

Diane Balit amazes and surprises both her regular customers and collectors looking for authentic creations. She has made a name herself during several international expositions in several cities including Paris, London, Florence, San Francisco and Las Vegas.

“If you are looking for original watches that have unique charm, you should really take a look at my watches. Each watch has an enamel face and is hand-painted and they all have my signature design,” Balit stated.

“You can choose from a wide array of watches for women and men. Depending on your preference you can select many different face styles; triangular, rectangular, round, oval or eye-shaped. Our straps and bracelets will also catch your eye thanks to their shape, color and the quality of the materials. Each watch is personally signed by me to ensure the authenticity,” she added.

“I have been carrying out my profession of enameller (copper enamel) for over thirty years. I’m still passionate about my work, as there are always changing trends in my creations. I started out with jewelry and now watches fascinate me. The face of the watch, which is enamel, can be incorporated to a miniature frame, rendering the watch very precious and unique. My enamel is applied with a pen and requires no less than three firings per piece, each being inspired by my numerous trips as well as day-to-day experiences. I hope that my artistic approach will never wear out, and that there will always be something new.” Diane told.

The shop is located near the beginning of Front Street just across from the Music Man store.
