PHILIPSBURG:--- The year long banner (donated by SXM signs) advocating sports instead of violence was proudly hung on the basketball court at the Allen C Halley Jr youth center by members of the Island Hoops Basketball Foundation, Soualiga Social Movement and the Simpson bay Community Council.
Part of the campaign consists of an intensive community building training event facilitated by the Oasis Caribe movement from March 11th-22nd.
A successful Oasis game community building event was previously executed in the Dutch Quarter community in 2013.
A community activity day will conclude all activities on March 26th, where sports and any other talents of and from the Simpsonbay community will be showcased. There will be activities for all ages, prizes and a t-shirt drive.
All residents of the Simpson bay community are encouraged to come out and support this activity as it for them and by them. Visit www.shoothoopsnotguns.org for more information about the campaign and how to contribute. For more information on the oasis games visit www.oasiscaribemovement.com.
