~ Government sends letter to PM Rutte. ~
PHILIPSBURG: — Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs announced on Wednesday that St. Maarten is yet to receive the NAF39M that was promised by the Netherlands. The NAF39M is the 3rd tranche of the liquidity support that was expected earlier this year but was delayed due to the petition filed by the parliament of St. Maarten to the United Nations.
While the State Secretary Raymond Knops guaranteed that St. Maarten will receive the promised liquidity support, Jacobs said the government of St. Maarten dispatched a letter to the Kingdom Council of Ministers asking that Prime Minister Mark Rutte follow up on the decisions that were made two and a half weeks ago on the liquidity support for St. Maarten.
Jacobs said even though a decision was taken two and half weeks ago by the Kingdom Council of Ministers St. Maarten did not receive one penny thus far, neither did the Minister of Finance received the loan agreement for signature. Jacobs said even that St. Maarten did not receive a written confirmation BZK also agreed to dispatch the 3rd tranche, therefore the government of St. Maarten dispatched a letter to the Dutch Government.
