~ Government-issued parcel of land in loan (rental agreement) to a private citizen, parcels of land were filled in by private citizens.~

PHILIPSBURG:--- The controversial plot of land located adjacent to Turning Point was never allocated to any entity, persons, or Ministry based on information at the cadaster’s office.
While the government of St. Maarten made several comments as to the use of the plots of land adjacent to the Turning Point, no actual issuance of the land was ever done.
The plots of land adjacent to Turning Point were filled in by a number of private citizens but some of these citizens never received the land in a long lease or rental agreement.
According to information provided to SMN News, Turning Point requested to place the prison cell containers on a plot of land that was issued to a private citizen as a loan or rental agreement.
The plot of land was used years ago to train youngsters for go-carting and has recently been cleared to use as a parking area by the person that had a rental agreement with the government of St. Maarten. Sources say the rental agreement has since expired and was never renewed by any Minister of VROMI.
One of the plots of land is used by Hungry’s towing services, while another resident who filled in several plots of land on Pond Island is still waiting on the government for a long lease agreement for the construction of a commercial building.
