“I commend the regatta organizers for hosting such a contest for the nation’s youth. It brings them closer to the 35-year old premier sailing event that attracts a couple thousand tourists and displays several days of spectacular sailing.

“The art competition also allows our young kids and youths to become creative during this time of the year ahead of the event which is part of celebrating this activity that is part of our annual calendar of events and has been so for almost 36-years. I lend my voice as a reminder for those participating to complete their art assignments and submit before the deadline,” Minister of Tourism Ingrid Arrindell said on Thursday.

The assignments are divided per school group. Professional judges will judge the art after they have been handed in. There will be a first, second and third place winner for each assignment per school group. These winners will be rewarded with great prizes sponsored by local businesses.

The prize giving ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, February 7 at 3.00pm at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club.
