~ Dutch Government and local governments want’ good corporate governance at PJIAE~

PHILIPSBURG:— Minister of Finance Ardwell Irion remains optimistic that St. Maarten will receive the promised NAF39M in liquidity support from the Dutch Government, however, the Minister of Finance could not say when e expects the much-needed funds on St. Maarten’s accounts.
In response to questions at the Council of Minister’s press briefing on Wednesday, the Minister said that both the government of St. Maarten and the Dutch Government wants good corporate governance at the Princess Juliana International Airport. Irion said ever since taking office the Jacobs cabinet has been working towards good governance.
Asked if the Dutch Government pinpointed exactly what they want to see happen at PJIAE, the Minister said that the only thing that was mentioned is good corporate governance.
The Minister further explained that St. Maarten has money to pay its civil servants for another month, however, persons receiving the unemployment support and the SSRP are the ones that will be fully affected until the issues between the Dutch Government and the Government of St. Maarten are ironed out.
