PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):--- Community Action Day, an American University of the Caribbean (AUC) tradition started in the Fall 2008 semester by two students, is celebrated three times a year.

Each Community Action Day provides opportunities for AUC physicians-in-training, faculty, staff, and family to focus on island priorities related to health and well-being, education, child development, environment, and animal welfare.

The projects are planned by working with valued community partners.

As an important part of celebrating ten years of Community Action Day, AUC recognized the community institutions who are the universities partners in developing and implementing programs that support health in Sint Maarten.

The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development, and Labour, through the Platform, is a foundational partner for AUC. AUC works closely with the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development, and Labour Collective Prevention Services (CPS), a department in the Ministry, to identify health priorities and implement programs.

As a symbol of the university’s appreciation of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development, and Labour, AUC recently presented a poster to Minister Emil Lee to recognize the universities collaboration created out of communication, trust, and perseverance.
