PHILIPSBURG:--- The Career & Study Fair 2018 will kick off on Tuesday, October 30 at the Belair Community Center under the theme: “What you do today can improve your tomorrows.”
The fair is open to interested students, pre-exam and exam students from all secondary schools and parents.
The fair is open to students from 9.00am to 1.30pm and for the general public from 3.00pm to 6.00pm on Tuesday.
The Career & Study Fair is organized by the St. Maarten Career & Study Fair Committee.
Minister of Tourism & Economic Affairs Stuart Johnson commends the aforementioned committee for all their efforts in organizing this very important event for the nation’s youth and parents for 2018.
In 2017 the fair was cancelled due to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
“The Career & Study Fair will bring together representatives of the educational sector from here and abroad, the University of St. Martin among other local programs; organizations, and businesses.
“The Career & Study Fair presents opportunities for our youth. The information provided, and the knowledge gained of what opportunities exist will allow our youth to fulfill their aspirations.
“Our country is currently in the rebuilding phase and this process will take some time. A number of hotel properties will reopen in 2020 and there will be opportunities for employment.
“At the same time we must look at economic diversification. Due to the rapid technological advancements, those studying must also continuously upgrade their skill and knowledge set.
“Education and the Economy are interlinked and therefore it is very important that our youth are able to harness and use their creativity and dynamism that will prepare them well, and the Career & Study Fair is an avenue and stepping stone for the future,” Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunications Stuart Johnson said on Sunday.
