PHILIPSBURG:--- EPIC7 Cricket Tournament is a “Seven-A-Side”, Five (5) Over snap, yet highly suspense, thrilling cricket competition that is perfectly crafted to ensure fun and excitement for the entire family. EPIC7 Cricket Tournament and Family Funday will be held on Sunday, August 26th, 2018 at the Carib Lumber Ball Park from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.
A day that calls out all our community who through participation and togetherness, assist in defining the true essence of community spirit. EPIC7 treasures every second that allows you and your family to bond and create even more precious moments. Therefore, we invite you to continue doing so by attending and enjoying our bounciers (Bouncy house), raffles and lots of giveaways together, as a family. A variety of foods, BBQ and drinks will also be on sale.
For way over twenty (20) years cricket has made its mark on our island, St. Maarten.
Though most eminent in British Caribbean Islands, England, India, Pakistan, other Eastern and over the past recent years, Western countries, St. Maarten’s melting pot of diverse nationalities from over one hundred (100) nations around the world has made the island’s cricket atmosphere most exhilarating! For many years, thousands have gathered in jubilant celebration of unity all in the name of cricket. This Epic phenomenon has not only been witnessed but experienced at no other place but the one and only, Carib Lumber Ball Park.
Though our island is home to regional and international cricket stars such as Antonio Fernandes, Shaquille Martina, Shadrack Descarte, Daniel Dorma, Kacey Carty, Sherwin Peters, Colin Hamer Jr and many others who have made our island proud by their outstanding performances, we do believe there is a great need for the revival and continuous upkeep of our island’s cricket.
One of EPIC7’s mission is to ensure our young as well as veteran players are recognized. It’s imperative for all our society to not only become aware of our cricketers but also become knowledgeable of the many potential opportunities available through Cricket. Such opportunities were benefited by youth players Antonio Fernandes, who toured with the West Indies under 17 cricket team last year (2017) to play several friendly matches in England. Shaquille Martina and Shadrack Descarte were both granted scholarships to The University of The West Indies’ Open Campuses in Barbados while Daniel Doram received a scholarship from Sussex in England.
We believe, like any other sport, cricket should not only be competitive but also a statement that embodies community spirit and togetherness. Cricket is also the perfect instrument to boost our economy through the sports’ tourism platform with direct access to the regional tourist market.
