PHILIPSBURG:— The Detective Department is busy investigating a shooting that took place in Madame Estate leaving an armed robber dead and another seriously injured.
According to information provided to SMN News, some armed men robbed the Pavilion Jewelers located next to Horizon View Hotel on Front Street, police gave chase that ended in Madame Estate where the shots were fired leaving one dead.
Police Spokesman Joe Josepha said that the suspects were armed and dangerous and they responded to police with gunfire. Josepha said police returned fire hitting two men, one he said died on the spot while the other was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center.
