SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) - The University of St. Martin (USM) welcomed faculty members to campus on Friday, August 14, for its Fall 2026 Faculty Meeting, bringing lecturers together ahead of the official start of the new academic semester.

The meeting provided an opportunity for faculty members to reconnect, sign their contracts for the semester, receive important updates, and prepare for the return of students as classes officially began on Monday, August 17.

The gathering also highlighted the value of USM’s faculty community, which brings together professionals with different backgrounds, areas of expertise and experiences who share a common commitment to educating and supporting students. A particularly meaningful part of USM’s faculty is the number of proud USM alumni who have returned to the University as lecturers and professionals, bringing their knowledge and experience back into the same classrooms and community that helped form part of their own educational journey.

For USM, seeing former students return as faculty represents the cycle of education and service that the University continues to encourage among its graduates. These alumni have gone on to develop professionally in their respective fields and are now using their experience to teach, mentor and support another generation of USM students.

Their return also gives current students an opportunity to learn from individuals who understand the USM experience personally and who can demonstrate where education, continued development and commitment can lead.

As the Fall 2026 semester runs from August 17 through December 5, USM looks forward to another semester of collaboration between its students, faculty, and staff.

The Management team at USM thank all faculty members for continuing to share not only their professional and academic knowledge, but also their time, experiences and commitment to the development of our students. To our returning faculty and those joining us for the new semester, welcome to Fall 2026.
