SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – The Police patrol responded to a fire in an apartment in a building behind the optical center on Bush road on Sunday morning at 9.45am. Other first responders such as the Fire Department and Ambulance service were also directed to the same location.

The Fire Department extinguished the fire in an apartment according to a police report on Sunday morning about the incident. No other apartments in the building suffered any serious damage and three persons were treated on the scene by Ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Department. According to an initial assessment, there were no signs of foul play, police said on Sunday. (KPSM)
