SINT MAARTEN (INDIGO BAY) - Around 60 executive and middle-management positions are expected to be based in St. Maarten when The Setai St. Maarten opens as planned in 2028, with opportunities spanning hotel management, sales, marketing, revenue management, finance, human resources, information technology, events and conference services.
The positions form part of the resort's broader employment plans, under which more than eight out of every 10 jobs across the property are projected to be filled by St. Maarten residents.
The Setai said its goal is not only to create operational employment, but also to establish career pathways allowing local employees to progress into supervisory, management and executive positions.
The latest employment projections focus specifically on Management and Corporate Services, highlighting opportunities for professionals whose careers may not traditionally be associated with the front-line side of the hospitality industry.
For local professionals in finance, marketing, human resources, technology, sales, revenue management and events, the resort said the planned positions will provide opportunities to develop long-term careers while contributing to the management of an international luxury hospitality operation.
The Setai St. Maarten is a planned 205-key luxury resort with private villas under development at Indigo Bay. The project represents The Setai Hotels' first Caribbean property and is being developed in partnership with Toronto-based Altree Developments. Construction is underway, with completion targeted for 2028.
Plans for the resort include a beach club with cabanas and butler service, three swimming pools, a 30,000-square-foot destination spa, tennis and pickleball courts, water sports, children's facilities and five restaurant concepts.
The project will combine hotel and residential accommodations and is being developed with Studio Munge and HKS Architects, with Leading Hotels of the World also involved in the project.
The approximately 60 management and corporate positions are part of a much broader workforce that will be required to operate the property. The Setai has indicated that its local employment strategy will include clear opportunities for employees entering through operational departments to advance internally over time.
That approach, according to the development, is intended to ensure that the resort's economic impact extends beyond the number of jobs created and contributes to building management and leadership capacity within St. Maarten's workforce.
The company has stressed that its commitment remains for more than 80 percent of positions across the resort to ultimately go to residents of St. Maarten. The figures being released at this stage are projections and could change as the development moves closer to opening.
