SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) – The SXM DOET Project Coordination Team is excited to announce that the volunteer registration for the 2025 edition of DOET is open at www.sxmdoet.com. SXM DOET will take place on May 16th and 17th, 2025, with community enrichment projects happening throughout Sint Maarten.

In 2025, coming off the heels of the Carnival season and with the change in DOET's traditional date, the theme for this year’s event is "From Parading to Progress for a Brighter St. Maarten." The theme reflects the energy and spirit of the island’s festivities, channeling that enthusiasm into meaningful community improvement projects.

This year, 100 projects will be hosted across both days: 43 projects on Friday, May 16, and 56 projects on Saturday, May 17. The diverse lineup of projects includes initiatives that cater to a wide range of community needs, with a special focus on vulnerable groups and youth on the island. Volunteers are encouraged to visit the website and sign up to participate in these impactful activities.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in the number of projects this year, with 100 projects listed, and we’re thrilled to see such enthusiasm and community involvement,” shared the Project Coordination Team. “This year, many projects focus on supporting vulnerable groups, including seniors, persons with disabilities, and underserved communities, as well as engaging youth in positive community development. Despite some organizational changes last year with many NGO’s, the response this year has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to even greater participation in 2025.”

Over the years, SXM DOET has attracted between 1,000 and 1,500 volunteers, and this year, the Project Coordination Team is targeting 1,500 volunteers to help make the event a success. “With the increased number of projects and the focus on our most vulnerable community members and youth, we’re confident that we can reach our goal of 1,500 volunteers. We’re excited to see the community come together to create lasting positive change,” the Coordination Team added.

This year’s projects offer something for everyone, with volunteer opportunities ranging from environmental sustainability and beautification efforts to direct support for local organizations, vulnerable groups, and youth initiatives.
