SINT MAARTEN (SUCKER GARDEN) - The Suckergarden Community-Minded Leaders proudly hosted their first Coconut & Craft Fest, bringing together participants from various communities for a lively celebration of creativity, culture, and community spirit.
The festival featured an impressive variety of handmade items, all creatively crafted from coconut, a symbol of resilience, resourcefulness, and island tradition.
The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, with families and visitors filling the festival grounds throughout the day. Vibrant displays, interactive craft demonstrations, and food vendors added to the festive atmosphere, making the event a true community highlight.
“This event and the turnout of the community were a great success,” said President Meredith Concincion, expressing gratitude for the strong support and participation. Ronailda Look-Kruythoff, Coordinator of Activities and Fundraising, echoed this sentiment, adding that the event reflects the community’s shared commitment to cultural preservation, creativity, and togetherness.
A special highlight of the day was the Best Decorated Tent Competition, in which participants showcased their artistry and island pride. The competition added excitement and friendly rivalry, drawing cheers from attendees and recognizing the creativity and effort of all involved.
The Suckergarden Community-Minded Leaders extend heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers, participants, sponsors, and community members who contributed to the event's success.

With overwhelmingly positive feedback, the organizers are already looking ahead. “We are looking forward to a bigger Coconut & Craft Fest next year,” said Look-Kruythoff.
“The idea is to host a Coconut & Craft Fest annually, allowing our community to grow this tradition and continue showcasing the talent and unity that make Suckergarden special.”
