SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY) - Throughout the summer, young sailors of different ages and experience levels had the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and enjoy time on the water. For many participants, the camps offered their first introduction to sailing, while returning sailors continued to grow their love for the ocean.
Alongside sailing, the camps included a wide variety of activities in and around the water, all while having fun in a safe and active environment.
The Sint Maarten Yacht Club would like to extend a special thank you to the local restaurants that supported the summer camps by helping provide meals for the participants: Sint Maarten Yacht Club Bar & Restaurant, Zee Best, Domino’s and Captain’s Rib Shack. Their support helped make the camp days even more enjoyable for our young sailors.
A special thank you also goes to Bob Hilbert for partly sponsoring the summer camp shirts. Thanks to this support, the Sailing School was able to use additional resources to invite several children to participate in the summer camp free of charge, helping make sailing accessible to even more young people in our community.
The Yacht Club would also like to thank all participants, parents, instructors and assistants who helped make the seven weeks of summer camp such a success.
With almost 150 children participating this summer, the Sailing School is pleased to see continued strong interest in youth sailing on Sint Maarten and looks forward to welcoming many sailors back during the new sailing season. There is still space available in several of the Sailing School’s classes for children who would like to continue sailing or get started for the first time.
