SINT MAARTEN/THE NETHERLANDS - The Kingdom Council of Ministers has approved the nomination for appointment of Perry F.M. Geerlings as a new member of the Board of Financial Supervision Curaçao and Sint Maarten (Cft).
Geerlings takes a seat in the Board on the recommendation of the country of Sint Maarten. The appointment will take effect on 1 October and will be for a period of three years.
Geerlings is currently a member of the Corporate Governance Council of Sint Maarten, an independent advisory board that oversees the soundness of the governance of public companies and foundations.
Previously, he was Minister of Finance of Sint Maarten, member of the Parliament of Sint Maarten and director of the Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary of Sint Maarten. Geerlings held various positions in the financial sector.
Geerlings succeeds the current Cft member on behalf of Sint Maarten, Julisa Frans, who has received an honorable discharge as of October 1.
The Board of Financial Supervision is independent and supervises the soundness of the public finances of the countries of Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The Board has a signaling and advisory role.
