SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) – “Big dreams can start on a small island. During my recent visit to Curaçao, I had the opportunity to meet Curaçao international goalkeeper and Guinness World Record holder Eloy Room during the occasion of his Guinness World Records recognition,” Member of Parliament (MP) Sjamira Roseburg said in a press statement on Thursday.
“It was a special moment, and I took the opportunity to approach him and ask if he had a message for the young people and aspiring footballers of Sint Maarten. Room gladly shared an inspiring message for the next generation: never give up on your dreams, work hard, and always enjoy the game.
“His message is a powerful reminder to the youth of Sint Maarten and Saint-Martin that success begins with belief, dedication, and perseverance. Every training session, every match, and every challenge presents an opportunity to learn, grow, and move one step closer to achieving your goals.
“As a Caribbean athlete who has competed on the international stage, Room’s journey serves as encouragement for young players who dream of making their mark in football. No matter how small your island may be, your dreams should never be small. With commitment, discipline, and a passion for the game, young athletes can continue to develop their talents and pursue opportunities beyond their communities.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to meet Eloy Room in Curaçao and to bring his words of encouragement to the young people of Sint Maarten. Sometimes, a message from someone who has walked the path of pursuing their dreams can make a lasting difference in the life of a young athlete.
“The message to our youth is simple: keep showing up, keep learning, work hard, and never stop believing in yourself. Your journey is only beginning! Looking ahead, I sincerely hope to welcome Eloy Room to Sint Maarten one day.
“His visit would be a wonderful opportunity to inspire our young footballers, share experiences, and encourage the next generation to believe in their potential both on and off the pitch. We look forward to welcoming you to Sint Maarten, Eloy Room!,” MP Roseburg concluded.
