On the morning of Wednesday August 16, 2023, a serious car accident occurred on AJC Brouwers Road in Cole Bay involving a blue Audi and a white Dacia. One injury is to be deplored.
The crash, which happened around 2:30 a.m., caused extensive damage to the two vehicles involved and injured one of the drivers. According to initial investigations by the Sint Maarten police force, the white Dacia car was driving on AJC Brouwers Road towards the Kruithoff roundabout. In contrast, the blue Audi was coming up the hill on the same road but in the opposite direction. For reasons undetermined at this stage of the investigation, the driver of the Audi lost control of the vehicle. The latter veered into the oncoming lane, only to then collide with the white Dacia. The impact of the collision was violent, causing significant damage to both cars. The driver of the white Dacia suffered head injuries during the impact. Shortly after the accident, the emergency services went to the scene to administer first aid to the injured driver. The victim was transported to the Sint Maarten medical center for full treatment. The KPSM traffic department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this accident, which could have turned into a tragedy. _Vx
