GREAT BAY--SZV Social & Health Insurances has formalized a long-term contractual agreement with Fundación Valle del Lili, FVL, in Cali, Colombia, to serve as an international healthcare provider for SZV-insured clients who require specialized medical treatment that is not available in St. Maarten.

FVL is a Joint Commission International, JCI, accredited university hospital, a standard widely recognized in global healthcare quality and patient safety. The institution is ranked 126th among medical institutions worldwide, second in Latin America, and first in Colombia.

Through this partnership, SZV-insured clients will have access to FVL’s specialized medical services, supported by internationally accredited standards and a dedicated international patient office equipped to manage coordination, communication, and continuity of care.

“This partnership with FVL represents a meaningful advancement in the continuity of care for our SZV-insured clients. When specialized treatment is needed abroad, our insured clients can be confident that they will receive care that meets the highest international standards of quality and patient safety,” said Dr. Chandra Rombley, SZV’s Chief Medical Insurance Officer.

SZV and FVL first established ties in July 2024, beginning a period of close collaboration and evaluation. Following the successful completion of a medical referral tender for international healthcare providers, FVL was selected as the top choice for SZV-insured clients.

The formal long-term contract now in place ensures that SZV-insured patients can access FVL’s services within a framework that prioritizes quality care, patient support, and cost efficiency.

“Securing this long-term partnership with FVL is another major milestone for SZV. It demonstrates our commitment to providing our insured members with access to high-quality specialized care, while ensuring sustainability and cost-effectiveness for the future,” said Elton Felisie, SZV’s Deputy Director.

To mark the milestone, a formal signing ceremony was held on June 8, 2026. SZV was represented by Deputy Director Elton Felisie, Chief Medical Insurance Officer Dr. Chandra Rombley, Care Procurement Manager Nichelle van der Mark, and Medical Referrals & Extended Care Manager Yadira Velkamp.

FVL was represented by Dr. Ana Cristina Arboleda Arango, Medical Coordinator of the International Office, and Dr. Guillermo Potdevin Stein, Head of FVL’s Radiation Oncology Department.

SZV said the agreement marks the beginning of a sustained collaboration for overseas medical referrals, strengthening access to specialized healthcare for the people of St. Maarten.
