The Sint Maarten Police Force (KPSM) responded to reports of an explosion at an apartment complex in the Pointe Blanche neighborhood last Friday, April 19, around 17 p.m.
After receiving numerous calls regarding the incident, several patrols, ambulances and the fire department were quickly dispatched to the scene. Initial investigations indicate that the explosion occurred when one of the victims tried to turn on the stove, which caused a sudden and powerful explosion. This unfortunate incident resulted in serious injuries to the two people present in the home. First aid was provided immediately before the victims were transported to Sint Maarten Medical Center for treatment.
The latest news is that both people were evacuated by air due to the severity of their injuries. _AF
