Last Monday, a large-scale inspection was carried out within the Daniella Jeffry Vocational High School, in Concordia. The operation, led by the national gendarmerie, mobilized around fifteen soldiersincluding unity dog lover and the dog Stark, and took place at the same time inside the establishment and its immediate surroundings. Three classes were checked, while at the exit, the students' bags were also inspected.
This action is an extension of the back-to-school staff of September 12, which has implemented a new impetus in terms of prevention and security around educational establishments. It illustrates the strengthened partnership between the prefect, the rector and the prosecutor, united around the same objective: to guarantee the serenity of the educational framework.
Operationally, some foreclosures were carried out, including several bags of narcotics (cannabis) and a knife. Despite the impressive nature of the device, the student cooperation was highlighted by the teams on site.
Accompanied by the Vice-Rector Harry Christophe, Kwakay Bride, chief of staff to the rector, and Gwladys Richard, deputy director of the academic defense and security service, both of whom came from Guadeloupe to attend the operation, Marion Gonzalez-Durili, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Prefect, recalled the deep meaning of these interventions: “These controls respond to several essential objectives. First of all, they allow us to firmly remind that certain objects have no place in a school establishmentBeyond this security aspect, these operations are also a strong signal: school must remain a sanctuary of learning, a space where respect and serenity reign, far from any form of tension or violence. It is the very future of our young people that is at stake, and our duty is to guarantee an environment conducive to their development and success.”
The authorities confirmed that this type of operation, both preventive and educational, has vocation to reproduce in other establishments on the island during the school year. _Vx
