The minister with prototype that will bear the island’s license plate WILLEMSTAD--Minister of Economic Development MEO Roderick Middelhof travelled to the United Kingdom to represent Curaçao at the internationally renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed, one of the world's most prestigious motor sports events.

During the festival, FG Group officially unveiled and delivered the first Apollo Evo hyper-car, an ultra-exclusive model of which only 10 units will be produced worldwide. The vehicle, bearing Curaçao's licence plate and named "The Caribbean Dragon 4", is to travel the globe as ambassador for the island. According to the ministry, it will showcase Curaçao's name at international events and destinations, exposing the island to a global audience. Middelhof said the initiative extends far beyond tourism promotion. "This is not only an opportunity to put Curaçao in the spotlight as a tourist destination," he said. "It is also a platform to introduce our island to entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders operating at the highest levels of the global market. These types of connections can open doors to new opportunities in investment, business, and economic development." Valued at an estimated 3.5 million euros, the Apollo Evo ranks among the world's most exclusive and technologically advanced hyper-cars. The fact that one of the only 10 vehicles to be produced will represent Curaçao is being described by the ministry as a unique achievement within the international motor sports community. MEO said the project demonstrates how international promotion can go beyond tourism by positioning Curaçao as a modern, innovative island that is open to business, investment, luxury industries and advanced technology. The ministry also linked the initiative to Curaçao's FIFA World Cup-related branding campaign "The Blue Wave," stating that this vehicle will further strengthen the island's international visibility and demonstrate that Curaçao can make its mark on the global stage, including in the world of motor sports. Concluding his visit, Middelhof expressed optimism about the future. "Curaçao is at an important moment in its development. We must continue to carry The Blue Wave forward and seize every positive opportunity that comes our way. With a clear vision for the future, we can continue to strengthen our economy, attract investment, and elevate Curaçao's position on the world stage," he said.
