MARIGOT--A 34-year-old man was shot dead in French Quarter on Saturday night, the Gendarmerie confirmed.
Unconfirmed reports indicated the victim was on his way to a family event in the district when he was approached by two individuals who fired on him multiple times.
Commandant of the Gendarmerie Lieutenant Colonel Hugues Loyez indicated the reasons for the fatal shooting are not yet known, but gave no further information. A murder investigation has been opened to establish circumstances surrounding the fatality.
