ENVIRONMENT: An action charter for low-carbon tourism signed between Ensolus and La Samanna A Belmond Hotel St. Martin | FAXINFO

A memorandum of understanding to encourage the development of low-carbon tourism and promote environmentally friendly practices in the tourism industry was signed last Thursday at the sumptuous Hotel de la Samanna between the president of Ensolus “ Energy Solution”, Raj Charbhe and the manager of La Samanna A Belmond Hotel St. Martin, Eleonore Astier-Petin.

Were present during this evening placed under the sign of an innovative and environmentally friendly economy, Clara Brander, founding member of Ensolus "Energy Solution", Moana Bretault, technical director and sustainable development at La Samanna, Bernadette Davis and Dominique Louisy, respectively 2nd and 3rd vice-president of the COM, Daniel Gibbs, territorial councilor and Martine Beldor, territorial councilor, in charge of vocational training.

  What the charter says

“We, Ensolus and La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, St. Martin recognize the importance of reducing our carbon footprint to preserve the environment and fight climate change. We are therefore determined to work together to promote low-carbon tourism.

In this context, we agree to the following actions:

Sensitization : the Hotel is committed to raising its customers' awareness of sustainable practices and encouraging them to adopt eco-responsible behavior (water and energy management, waste sorting, use of soft means of transport, etc.) .

Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions: the Hotel is committed to implementing concrete actions to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. This can include the use of renewable energy sources, the implementation of efficient energy management systems, the reduction of water consumption and the promotion of natural and organic and local food as much as possible. .

Offsetting greenhouse gas emissions: if necessary, the hotel undertakes to offset its greenhouse gas emissions by investing in emission reduction or carbon storage projects.

Staff awareness: the Hotel is committed to raising awareness and training its staff on sustainable practices and encouraging them to adopt eco-responsible behavior.

Communication: the Hotel undertakes to communicate regularly on its actions to reduce the carbon footprint and to make its customers and partners aware of the importance of commitment to low-carbon tourism that respects our environment.

“We are convinced that these actions will be beneficial for the environment, the local community and sustainable tourism activity in general. We are committed to working together to implement these actions and to regularly assess our progress and the results achieved”. _AF
