On the occasion of National Taste Week, the CCISM, through its Cité du Goût et des Saveurs network, is proud to have launched a series of exciting educational interventions within schools. These initiatives aim to educate younger generations about the importance of eating well and to arouse their interest in flavors.
As part of this educational approach, the Cité du Goût et des Saveurs offered a taste discovery workshop to two upper section classes from the Émile Choisy school. This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Cobraced association. The objective of this intervention was to sharpen the culinary sensitivity of young people. The establishment's teaching team was delighted with this session which allowed certain students to discover flavors that they had never tasted before, such as raspberry, or to better understand culinary sensations and to know how to differentiate between tastes the tanginess of sweet or salty. A second event was planned for Friday, October 20, offering CM1 and CM2 students the opportunity to participate in a unique culinary experience in the streets of Marigot, in partnership with Island Friend. Unfortunately, due to unfavorable weather conditions linked to the passage of Hurricane Tammy, this
delicious taste walk had to be postponed until after the school holidays. In addition to the educational component, the CCISM City of Taste and Flavors is launching culinary workshops open to the public. These workshops aim to allow the population to discover or perfect their cooking skills. The first workshop offered immerses the youngest in CupCake Design for a sweet adventure where children can decorate scary cakes for the Halloween theme. This children's workshop, whose entry price is set at €50, will take place today from 14 p.m. to 16 p.m. at the CCISM (see info). The latter would like to point out that the income generated by the general public workshops will help finance educational interventions, particularly in schools, as the Cité du Goût et des Saveurs network does not benefit from any external funding. “We are very excited to continue supporting the culinary education of young people and to enable a wider audience to learn the art of cooking. We are determined to inspire a new generation of gourmets and to raise awareness of the richness of flavors” confides Julien Bataille, director of the CCISM. At the initiative of the Chambers of Trades and Crafts in 2005, the City of Taste and Flavors is deployed throughout the territory to promote eating well and consuming locally while bringing the artisan closer to the consumer. _VX
