GREAT BAY--The Government of Sint Maarten invites all residents and visitors to attend the 66th Annual St. Martin Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Jocelyn Arndell Festival Village.
St. Martin Day marks a long-standing tradition of unity and cooperation between both sides of the island. Established by Dr. Claude Wathey, Mr. Clem Labega, Mr. Felix Choisy, and Dr. Hubert Petit, the commemoration continues to highlight the shared heritage and social connection of the people of St. Martin.
This year’s theme, “Sankofa, Learning from the past to build for the future,” emphasizes reflection and the importance of learning from history to shape a stronger and more sustainable future for the island.
Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina stated: “St. Martin Day reflects who we are as one island and one people. It is an opportunity to look back at the efforts that built our community and to work together toward a future based on respect, cooperation, and progress.”
The day’s program includes cultural presentations and traditional activities such as the Ringing of the Joy Bells and the Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Bellevue Border Monument. At noon, the St. Maarten National Cultural Parade will start at the Jose Lake Sr./John Cooper Ball Park and proceed to the Jocelyn Arndell Festival Village.
Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Ms. Melissa Gumbs, added: “St. Martin Day reminds us of our shared history and the responsibility to build on it. Through culture and reflection, we continue to shape the story of St. Maarten.”
Following the parade, officials from both sides of the island will deliver formal addresses at the Jocelyn Arndell Festival Village. The evening will conclude with a Cultural Manifestation starting at 6:00 p.m., featuring local artists and bands until 11:45 p.m.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to display their St. Maarten / St. Martin flags and wear the island’s colors in recognition of the occasion. Families, community groups, and cultural organizations are welcome to participate in the festivities and showcase the island’s cultural traditions.
