Announced at the end of last year, the return of the blue area is now in effect in downtown Marigot. This parking system is intended to encourage vehicle turnover in front of businesses and to support the economic activity of the city center.

The principle remains unchanged: Parking remains free, but its duration is limited to 1 hour 30 minutes, from 9 a.m. to 18 p.m., Monday to Saturday.Outside of these hours, as well as on Sundays and public holidays, motorists will be able to park freely without using a parking disc.

First of all, The scheme covers the main shopping streets. The following streets are designated parking areas: Rue de la République (20 spaces), Boulevard Hubert Petit opposite the West Indies Mall (22 spaces), Boulevard de France on the shopping side (63 spaces), as well as Rue du Général de Gaulle (37 spaces) and Rue du Président Kennedy (24 spaces). The parking spaces are identifiable by a... road markings and at a specific signage.

Simple rules to avoid a fine

Parking discs, essential for free parking, are available at the Collectivity Hotel, the Marigot Territorial Police, Cadisco service stations and the Blue Point station in Galisbay.

Motorists who fail to display their parking disc or exceed the permitted time are liable to a fine. fixed penalty of €17, which may be accompanied by the removal of the vehicle.

First tested in 2015 before being suspended in 2018 following the redevelopment of the city center, the blue zone is returning with a more targeted perimeter, focused on commercial areas to facilitate access to shops without penalizing residents and employees.
