Near 530 children leisure centers of the Territorial Fund for School Works (CTOS) participated, Wednesday morning, in the Boat Regatta 2026 on Galion beach. This day, which has become a an unmissable event during the holidays, brought together the little sailors around sporting challenges, beach games, mini jacuzzis and the traditional cardboard boat race.

Five boatsentirely designed by the children and activity leaders of the leisure centers ofÉmile Choisy, Evelina Halley, Elie Gibs, Clair Saint-Maximin et Jean AnselmeThey competed under the encouragement of their teammates. This year, the teams had a month to build their boat, compared to the usual week, although the materials arrived late, forcing everyone to be resourceful and creative.

Due to the wind, the race could not ultimately take place against the current as planned. Despite these conditions, the spectacle was once again guaranteed. While some boats quickly took on water or disintegrated, the crews did not They lost none of their enthusiasm right up to the finish line.carried by the shouts and applause of the children who remained on the beach. At the end of the legendary competition, it's the boat Jimbo, produced by the leisure center of Jean Anselme (kindergarten)who won this 2026 edition, thus succeeding Émile Choisy, winner last year.

Behind the scenes of a great success

Beyond the race itself, this Boat Regatta marked one of the last major group outings for the summer camps before the end of the holidays. No less than 95 animators were mobilized to supervise the children, with the support of the One device Holiday Jobs of the local authority, allowing young people aged 17 to 25 to work during the summer. The CTOS, driven by the energy of its head of extracurricular services, Bérénice Babot, also welcomed the support of his partners of the day, among which Blue Ride, Adyfun, D and J Tours et AI comfort restrooms, which contributed to the success of this new edition. _Vx
