On Friday, October 23, the meeting room of the COM's events department hosted a exhibition dedicated to the three future facilities : the Thelbert Carti stadium of the Orléans district, the Sandy Ground socio-cultural center and the Galisbay technical centerOrganized as part of the "Architecture Month" du Council of Architecture, Urban Planning and the Environment (CAUE) of Guadeloupe, on which the Saint-Martin branch depends, This exhibition only lasted one day.
For each building, three teams presented their working plans to a jury in order to see their version of the project implemented. These plans reveal behind the scenes of a large-scale construction project et collective work bringing together architects, engineers, acousticians, thermal engineers and landscape architects.
Working with the territory
The exhibition allowed us to understand how architects design buildings adapted to their environment. Prevailing winds, noise pollution, pre-existing buildings and views of the landscape are studied to integrate the projects into the urban fabric while respecting the constraints geoclimatic of the island.
In Galisbay, the technical center project chosen by the jury will be positioned to minimize noise from the facilities, and the offices, located away from the workshops, will benefit from a sea view. “These renderings give a clearer idea of what people can expect from the projects,” he says. Christine Pouzet, architect for 25 years in Saint-Martin. _DR
Next free architectural advice session on November 27th
The member of the CAUE of Saint-Martin, who is behind the exhibition, also provides free architectural advice sessions each fourth Friday of the month, within 9 to 12 hours, in the same room as the COM events department, on rue Victor Maurasse in Marigot. These consultations allow us to obtain valuable information on the design of a project, its location, and its integration into the environment. Individuals can also receive guidance on considering natural risks (cyclones, earthquakes, floods), current regulations, administrative obligations, construction costs, renovation, energy performance, and planning taxes. The architect intervenes only at title of advisorHe does not produce plans, submit building permits, or provide project management services, and does not visit sites. The next and final meeting of 2026 is scheduled for... Friday November 27 the Dates for the 2027 office hours will be available on the website of the Collectivity.
