Companies based in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy can, once again this year, benefit from the freight assistance put in place by the State in order to reduce the transport costs related to their activity.
The scheme, whose eligibility conditions for 2026 are set by a prefectural decree of June 17, aims to support local economic development by promoting production in the two territories.
The aid can cover up to 50% of eligible transport expenses, within the limit of €200.000 per case per yearThis includes the transport of raw materials and imported or transported products intended for production, the shipment to the European Union – including overseas territories – of locally manufactured products, as well as the transport of waste for treatment.
However, the rate is reduced to 25 % for companies already benefiting from the specific additional allocation for compensation of additional costs financed by the ERDF.
The prefectural decree specifies also the eligible sectors of activity. They mainly concern industrial and manufacturing companies, but also certain activities related to wood processing, printing, furniture manufacturing, carpentry work or even waste management and treatment.
In 2025, nine companies residents of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy benefited from this aid, for a total amount of 325.434,68€. Applications for the 2026 edition must be submitted no later than August 1st.
